About GreenStage:
2012 marks GreenStage’s 24th year of presenting free Shakespeare in the Park in the Seattle area. We produce two shows each summer that tour to 12 locations in and around Seattle; our Hard Bard extra bloody Halloween Show in October; and various other touring shows. We present the annual Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival at Volunteer Park – now in its 11th year, and featuring 12 performances by 8 different outdoor theatre companies over two days. We also partner with Sound Theatre Company to present Valentine’s Day Sonnet Deliveries in February.
In our 24 year history, we have tackled not only Shakespeare’s greatest hits, but also his lesser known works, and to date have produced all but three of the 38 plays in his canon.
Our education department presents summer camps each year as well as managing our touring production of Tiny Twelfth Night.
GreenStage’s mission is to inspire our audiences to engage in live theatre as part of their recreation. We wish to instill and foster in our community an appreciation for live theater, with a strong belief that theater can be enjoyed in the same spirit as a picnic or a ballgame. We make high-quality theatrical productions of Shakespeare’s plays freely accessible to all residents and visitors to Seattle and King County.
